Magazine Contents page

On my contents page I used a variation of boxes and text and I incorporated the black on white into this aswell by listing the on the cover section in that style. The contents page is a bit of a mirror to the main page so that it doesn't look to different and the magazine doesn't go onto a different theme.

Magazine cover

My magazine cover has quite alot going on but still it isn't  filled with loads of writing just some of the most enticing parts of the magazine. The title 'RADAR' applies to what the magazine is all about as it catching everything on  a students radar and shows it in the magazine, I did the title by going onto dafont.com and print screening into Photoshop and then re sizing it so that it fitted at the top, then I added colour by going on quick select and selecting the writing and the filling it with the paint bucket tool. I used a variation of black on white and normal writing this is so the black on white writing showed the most important story where as the other plain writing is not the feature article. I created the black on white effect by making a black box using the box tool and then putting white writing inside it using different layers.

Basic flat plans for magazine

These are my very basic and initial flat plans for my magazine as you can see I made a few adjustment due to the fact it didn't look right the way I drew it. The flat plans were very important and helpful as they gave me guidelines to follow and meant I could spend more time on adjusting what the content looked like and not what the content was going to be.

Mood Board

This is my mood board or reader profile and this just gives an insight to what my magazine is about and what the readers of my magazine will probably be into and also you could expect me to mention these topics in my magazine. for example the type of music is indicated and what TV so this shows that it is mainly targeted at males.

Magazine Research

Before I started to plan my magazine I took a few images from issu.com of already existing magazine covers just to see how much they vary as I'm used to just seeing gossip magazines as they are the most displayed in shops. From this I took that not all magazines need to be clogged up with information on the front.

CD Back

I continued the colour scheme from the front onto the back of the CD as this is more professional and normal thing to do also to make it more professional I took and image from Google of a bar code and a record label sign and placed these at the bottom. I purposely made the writing not all the same size as this symbolizes the vibe my group should be giving off not just neat and straight and the numbers the wrong side this also does this and makes it a bit unique. The image on the back just adds to the theme of city and street life as it is a street light also I didn't want to just have a blank back of CD and this seemed like a good image to have.

CD Front Cover

When I first looked at and started to research CD covers I found that the ones I preferred most were the simple ones with an image that didn't really have to be relevant to the songs or band name as sometimes the pun type of album can be tacky. so I kept the front of my CD cover simple by having one bold main image  and I made that black and white by going into adjustments and selecting black and white and then I blurred it slightly so that the writing was a bit more clear I did this by selecting the blur tool and then just waving over the image. I thought the bold red writing was a good contrast to the black and white image and black background as the name of the group 'inter city' are new so the name needs to be clearly started as they are not established yet. The image does have some relevance as the name is inter city and this is a block of flats from Norwich city and the album name is one of the songs names.

Cd cover research

Open publication - Free publishing - More cd covers

Before I started to design my own cd cover I picked out various cd covers from artists that I liked and or cd covers that I liked so I could get a good understanding of what direction I wanted to go in with my Cd cover. I took all my images from google images and I chose all very current artists as that is the kind of thing I wanted to go for.

Pink

I took this picture from google images and then using photoshop I adjusted the colouring to black and white by going into adjustments then selecting black and white. Next I wrote 'PINK' using seperate layers for each letter so that I could adjust them seperately then I selected each letter and and then clicked on the colour pink to change there colour. Next I double clicked on each letter which took me to the blending options and then I changed the general blending from normal to multiply so that the letters would become slightly transparent and you can see the image behind them but still keeping the text clear.

Angelina Jolie

Here I took a picture from google images of Angelina jolie then  used photoshop tools to change the colouring. first of I learnt how to make it black and white by going into adjustments then clicking black and white. Once I had made the picture black and white I then clicked the history brush tool and used it on the strwaberry and this brought back the red in the strwberry but everthing else stayed  black and white. When using the history brush you have to do everything manuely so you the navigator tool to zoom in and out so that I only used the history brush on the part I wanted to.
